The PhD programme is a research degree offering independent research in architecture for a person who wishes to advance teaching or a research career with a commitment to make an original contribution in the field. The selection committee of the Department of Architecture selects a doctoral candidate provisionally and submits the name of the supervisor upon provisional admission. Supervisor must be a full-time faculty member of the department of architecture, BUET who will then propose a doctoral committee upon consultation with the Head of the Department. The committee must be recommended by the BPGS and approved by the CASR (Committee for Advanced Studies and Research). The minimum duration of the PhD course shall be four semesters. A student must complete all the required course works and dissertation within six academic years or twelve semesters.
