
B Arch degree admission requirements are framed by the Academic Council and administered by the respective Admission Test Committees. The number of entrants for undergraduate studies in each academic session to the Department of Architecture is 55 including one reserved for a tribal student. Only students selected for admission following the admission test can be admitted to BUET. To be eligible to sit for the admission test, candidates must qualify according to the conditions set by the Admission Test Committee approved by academic council. All the requirements are subject to changes set by Admission Test Committee of the relevant year.
The general rule for admission is
a. candidates must have a minimum point of 4.00 on scale if 5.00 in S.S.C./ Dakhil or equivalent examination.
b. Candidates must have obtained at least 5.00 grades (on a grade point scale of 5.00) individually in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and at least 4.00 grades individually in English and Bengali in H.S.C./ alim or equivalent examination.
c. A merit list is then prepared with the top most candidates who appear in the examination of which, 55 with a tribal candidate is selected for the department.

M Arch Degree
Application for admission to the M Arch course shall be invited through regular means of advertisement and shall be received by the Registrar. Before being finally selected for admission a candidate may be required to appear at an oral and/or written examination by a Selection Committee as constituted by the department.
a. Applicant must have at least 50% marks or minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0 or its equivalent in B. Arch or equivalent degree from any recognized institution.
b. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 or a first division or equivalent in any one of S.S.C and H.S.C or in equivalent examinations and must not have a GPA less than 2.00 out of 5.00 or a third division or equivalent in any of the aforementioned examinations.
PhD Degree
a. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 or a first division or equivalent in any one of S.S.C. and H.S.C. or in equivalent examinations and must not have a GPA less than 2.00 out of 5.00 or a third division or equivalent in any of the aforementioned examinations.
