About the Journal
The former name of the ‘Journal of Architecture’ was ‘Protibesh’, meaning environment. Since 1977, ‘the journal provided a forum for the dissemination of original research and scholarship. The Journal of Architecture (JA) is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed research journal published by the Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). It is a biannual journal published in January and July every year. To maintain the pace with the global scenario of scholarly exchange, the Department of Architecture has initiated an electronic version of the publication from January 2021. Now on, all the previous and future issues of the Journal will be available online, along with the journal’s publication in the printed version.
JA aims to provide an international forum for exchanging academic views and research outcomes in the multidisciplinary field of architecture and built environmental as research and review articles. It encourages discourse among the scholars and professionals from the perspective of social, cultural, economic, political, and technological aspects of developments, particularly in the built environment. JA publishes papers on buildings and the built environment; history, theory and criticism; environment and energy; urban design and landscaping; housing and settlement; construction and technology; resilience and sustainable developments; and so on. The contributions are often multidisciplinary and expand to cover the social science, environmental science and behavioural science. Although JA’s focus has been on architecture and the built environment in the regional context, the journal strongly encourages research contributions from other parts of the world.
As JA is an open-access journal, no publication fee is charged for the publication of research articles.
