Simita Roy is a Lecturer of the Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), and has been involved in teaching in BUET since 2017. Previously she was appointed as Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, University of Asia Pacific from January 2017 – December 2017. She had completed her B. Arch program from BUET in 2016. She is now pursuing her M. Arch at the same university. Her M. Arch thesis titled ― “LOCAL PREFERENCES FOR RESILIENCE: A Comparative Study of Two Water-logged Southwestern Villages in Bhobodoho, Bangladesh” is based on a sustainable relationship between rural settlement and river. Her B. Arch thesis project was also based on resilient housing and settlement issues in the coastal region of Bangladesh. Her interest lies in climate change, resilience, housing-settlement research, and design. Some of her research papers have been published in the proceedings of several international conferences focusing on the resilience issues of Bangladesh. She has been involved as a tutor in the competition titled “Designing Resilience in Asia (DRIA)” for the three consecutive cycles of 2018, 2019, 2020.
