Green Architecture Cell (GrACe), Department of Architecture (DoA), BUET, Dhaka in collaboration with Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) of Government of Bangladesh; Environment and Energy Division (EED), DoA, BUET and Architecture Alumni Association BUET (ArcAAB) has organized 2nd International Conference on Green Architecture (ICGrA 2018) from 12-14 July 2018 at International Convention Center Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was supported by Futurex Trade Fair and Events Pvt. Ltd., and ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd. 2nd ICGrA 2018 has attracted significant number of distinguished scholars, architects and planners from home and abroad. Under the theme ‘Green Architecture in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals ‘ the conference focus on four of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) : Affordable and Clean Energy; Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Sustainable Cities and Communities and Responsive Consumption and Production. Prof. Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed was the Convener and Ar. Luis Longhi Traverso, Prof. Shamsul Wares, Dr. Cristian Suau and Mr. Tai Lee Siang were invited from diversified field of architecture as keynote speakers for the event.

Architect Luis Longhi Traverso, the founder of Longhi Architects, San Isidro, Lima, Peru, shared his views on ‘Architecture: Nature of Nature’. Prof. and Ar. Shamsul Wares, Dean, School of Science and Technology, State University of Bangladesh, Dhaka put upon a light on – “Goals for Sustainable Architecture (with reference to Bangladesh)”. Dr Cristian Suau is the founding director (chair), STUDIO POP C.I.C., REMAKING THE CITY, Community Interest Company, Scotland presented wonderfully on the topic of ‘WASTE 2 DESIGN 4 SOCIETY: Urban Reactivation, Waste Reuse, and Water Technologies’. Mr. Tai Lee Siang, immediate past chair, World Green Building Council (WGBC) delivered his speech entitled “Green our World”.

A number of good research papers and posters were presented at the conference by students, architects, engineers and faculty members from numerous national and international universities.
