Department of Architecture, BUET has organized and hosted a day long International Seminar & Workshop ‘ARCHITECTURE FOR THE DISPLACED: Exploring  Interventions for Sustainable and Resilient Communities’  on 12 April 2019, Friday at BUET, Dhaka. The workshop has explored the interventions that can help design inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable infrastructure for the displaced communities as Rohingya. The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Design and Conservation (KADK) was our organizing partner as well. The event was also supported by the active participation of Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and Union of International Architects (UIA) as partner organisations.  We thank you all for their support.

In the seminar part, Ar. Ishtiaque Zahir Titas, Co-director, SDG Commission, UIA, Natalie Mossin, Co-director, SDG Commission, UIA, Sofie Stilling, Architectural Editor, KADK, Kazuo Iwamura, SDG Commission Member, UIA, Prof. Dr. Shayer Ghafur, DoA, BUET, David Gracia, Associate Professor, KADK, Ar. Jalal Ahmed, President, IAB and Samia Ahmed, Emergency Specialist, UNICEF shared their knowledge and understanding through their lectures.

In the workshop part of “International Seminar on Architecture for the Displaced”, three sessions have been conducted by three session chairs Dr. Nayma Khan, Prof. Dr. Md. Zakiul Islam and David Garcia based on three topics Designing Social Cohesion for Resilience, Rethinking Inclusiveness for the Displaced and Exploring Sustainability in Extreme Environment respectively  along with three coordinators Ar. Hridita Siddique, Ar. S. M. Arafat Hossain and Ar. Tanzim Rachana for the session 01, 02 and 03 respectively.
