The Berger Award Program for the Students of Architecture BUET (BASAB)

Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited (BPBL) recently hosted a prestigious award ceremony, the Berger Award Program for the Students of Architecture BUET (BASAB). The event, held on Wednesday at the BUET campus, celebrated the outstanding achievements of promising students. A total of 36 deserving recipients from the sessions of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 were honored across four distinct categories: Berger Best Design Award, Berger Travel Grant, Berger Best Portfolio Award, and Berger Promising Designer Award. Professor Dr Catherine Daisy Gomes, Asst. Prof. Atiqur Rahman, Asst. Prof. Mizanur Rahman, Eminent Architect Mamnoon Murshed Chowdhury and Artist Wakilur Rahman acted as the jury members for these cycles. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder, Vice-Chancellor of BUET, who attended as the chief guest. Additionally, Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd., and Prof. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUET, adorned the occasion as special guests. Among others Prof. Dr. Mohammed Zakiul Islam, Head of the Department of Architecture at BUET, Dr. Nayma Khan, Professor at the Department of Architecture and Director of the Berger Awards Program Committee, faculty members of DoA, BUET were also in attendance, adding to the grandeur of the event. The program culminated with a captivating performance by the renowned Bangladeshi music band, ‘Meghdol,’ leaving attendees enthralled. The Berger Award Program acknowledges excellence in architectural design and fosters a spirit of innovation and creativity among students, thereby contributing to the advancement of architectural education in Bangladesh.
