The Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) programme at BUET is a five-year professional degree, accredited by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) that aims to prepare thoughtful and responsible individuals who are primed to be leaders of the profession at home and abroad. B.Arch programme is administered by the Board of Undergraduate Studies (BUGS). Focusing on design studio this multidisciplinary curriculum emphasizes building technology, construction, history, theory and culture through which students develop visual literacy, design and communication skills, construction knowledge to face environmental, social and aesthetic challenges of contemporary architecture and urban practices. Students delve deep, different facets of architecture through ten different design studios and other essential theory courses that prepare them to see and think like an architect. Cumulative learning is possible only through immersion into design studio culture.

For undergraduate studies, the number of entrants to the Department of Architecture is limited to 55 for each academic session. Students are selected through admission test only. B. Arch degree admission requirements are framed by the Academic Council and administered by the respective Admission Test Committee.

The course credit system has been introduced at the undergraduate level since 1990-1991 academic session. A student’s performance is evaluated in terms of two indices, the Term Grade Point Average (GPA) and the Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of all the terms. To be eligible for a B. Arch degree, a student must complete 188 credits with a minimum CGPA of 2.20.
