Description Theories related to the spatialization process of urban retail structures; historical evolution of places for retailing in developed and developing countries, rural urban migration and informal sector retailing, modernization effect and formal retailing environment. Economics of retail land-use and location. Consumer behavior and the spatial structure of retailing; cognitive and behavioral approaches towards consumers decision making process, store location and the study of shop patterns. Theories related to the Morphological properties of urban space and form; Morphological analogies between the principles of node structure in city planning and generic patterns of shopping malls, contemporary types of shopping developments, rethinking towards spontaneous, unplanned urbanism and sustainable retail developments. Tools for analyzing the function of the complex buildings and its surroundings through case evaluation; theory of Space Syntax for configurational analysis of retail buildings, theory of natural movement, multiplier effect and movement economy, relation amongst configuration, attraction and movement towards sustainable retail developments in Dhaka.
